Discover the hidden treasures of the junkyard and build your own robot! Carefully combine elements and prevent your parts from turning against each other! And, of course, pay attention to the junk you leave behind because you are not the only one utilizing them. SteamJunk is a fast-paced card game in which the discard pile plays a huge role: whatever we discard, it will be the building blocks of our enemy that we must vanquish.

A dystopic alternate world lies in front of us: humanity conquered itself, turning the planet into a gigantic, rusty junkyard. People work, eat and sleep in factories – and only a handful of forgotten geniuses live on the junkpile who attempt to build robots from the bulk of trash. Whatever we find useless and discard is gathered by a mad scientist and he uses this junk to build his own lunatic, destructive machinery. SteamJunk is a competitive card game, in which we can build and develop our own robots from junk. But beware: our trash will turn against us in time! The game features a unique discard pile mechanism in which victory points will be provided by the junk discarded by us into the discard pile – which turns against us eventually. The number of our possible actions is determined by the action cards in our hand, making our opportunities easy to see through, so the beginner mode is recommended even from 8 years of age. The advanced mode is made for the kings and queens of combinations and discard pile manipulation, assuming the power of the 6 elements (fire, water, plants, earth, wind, thunder) for their clanks.

Designer’s note
Discard pile mechanism… The discard pile usually functions as a trashcan that we reshuffle when the drawing pile runs out; in luckier cases, we may scavenge cards discarded earlier. Why shouldn’t we let the discarded cards play a new role in a game? This thought sparked the idea of SteamJunk.
Publisher’s aspect
The eye-catching visuals of SteamJunk may make everyone excited from children to adults. Who doesn’t want to be a scientist and build their own robot? This game is made for them. The character sheets of the game are optional, so we can consider this both a board game and a card game.
