Worldshifter

We are in the distant future, when the boundaries of our world extend too far beyond. A gigantic ring spinning around us makes it possible to jump between our world and new alien world. The crystal named Trefon holds enormous power, making it indispensable for both architecture and military. Naturally, not only humans, but 9 alien races’ miners and vendors are threatened by piracy on the routes of the common sphere. In this game, world war gets a new meaning.

At the beginning of our story, humanity thought that they know everything, had experienced everything, had built and destroyed everything. But then a portal was opened, created by a mysterious force, the crystal Trefon. This force is enormous: besides connecting spheres of existence, it offers countless other ways to be utilized. Needless to say, humanity believed it to be most useful in the field of military, so they began to harvest the material. Then the people of the Earth found themselves in the middle of an ageless war between 9 alien races, joining the conflict as a new party. Each of the 10 races utilize the power of the crystal in a unique way. The people of the Earth gained monstrous firepower for their modern weapons, while certain insubstantial entities formed physical bodies thanks to the force. Beasts munch on the crystal as addicts to improve their biological capabilities, growing unbreakable bones, teeth and claws. The race of plants absorb the mineral’s dust through their roots, while the robotic samurai forge their blades from the crystal. The underwater ichthyoid species enhance their telepathic abilities with their jewelry made out of Trefon; the ancient mages gain robust magical powers from it. The Amazon sculptors carve their golems with this stone as their hearts; the shamans grind it into dust to make tattoos on their bodies with the glowing paint gained from it. The race of mutes – who used to live in endless darkness – found the light in the crystal. 10 different races hunt for the crystals driven by different motivations.

Worldshifter is an ameri-euro style hybrid. By choosing our faction, we may receive identical or unique starter buildings, which can be upgraded, or new buildings can be built upon them. There is one currency in the game: the crystal Trefon. The building and management of our buildings and engines is just one element of the game, which takes place on a common, 3-layered circular board. The inner circle is the common sphere, where we can take actions depending on our choice, and we can occupy positions before our opponents. These action pie wedges are also routes to other worlds, but the way in (and out) is not simple. However, the outer worlds are rich in Trefon, so they are everyone’s favorite destinations. The game supports both PVE and PVP modes. Players who don’t prefer conflict may fight aggressive pirates for their loot, while players fond of warfare may open fire upon other players’ game pieces. The fighting system is a drafting card game. Worldshifter features engine building and pick-up and deliver, as well as action area control and deckbuilding, creating a world – or worlds – full of challenges and opportunities.
